The first three books in the When the Wallflowers were Wicked are together in one box set… THE ACCIDENTAL MISTRESS When your reputation is ruined, why not enjoy it? For Regency wallflower, Miss Verity Barnes, nothing is more difficult than obtaining a voucher to Almack’s Assembly Rooms…except salvaging her reputation after committing a grievous faux pas within ten minutes of stepping through the doors. But being cast out of fashionable society inspires Verity to seek out a different way of life—a way she believes will bring her happiness, comfort and security—becoming the mistress of a powerful man. Thomas Manfred, Marquess of Landsbury, isn’t looking for a biddable woman to warm his bed. His fortunes lie on the brink of ruin, so he needs a wealthy wife, and Lady Charlotte Grey, darling of the ton, seems to be his only answer. But he cannot forget the adorable, amusing, and naïve young beauty who humiliated herself at Almack’s. And when Verity shows up on his doorstep, demanding he take her as his mistress as amends for the part he played in her ruin, he simply cannot resist the temptation. But Lady Charlotte isn’t willing to give up her position at Thomas’s side or share his attentions with anyone. Her acid tongue could ruin Verity’s reputation even more thoroughly than it has already been destroyed…unless fate intervenes. THE INCORRIGIBLE COURTESAN Gambling with your reputation has never been so much fun! The Disaster at Almack’s was the beginning of the end for Miss Honor Barnes, even though her part in it was small. With her reputation in tatters, she must look for ways to secure her comfort and safety…which is where wealthy tradesman, Sebastian Boothe, comes in. And if it means a daring gamble at the card table to win her way into his bed, it’s a chance she’s willing to take. Sebastian is just enough of a rake to bow to Honor’s wicked wishes, but he has more than fun on his mind. His entire fortune is in danger, thanks to the underhanded machinations of Lord James Grey. With time running out to prove he is the rightful owner of the profits of his recent trade mission to India, he is faced with the impossible unfairness of a commoner challenging the nobility. But Sebastian has an ace in his corner in the form of Honor and her skills. Together, they can set a trap to take down the most notorious cheat in the ton…if Sebastian can learn to trust Honor first. THE DELECTABLE TART A ruined reputation is a sweet entry into sin… Life is decidedly unfair for Miss Sophie Barnes. After her sisters’ falls from grace, she has been left without friends, without a place in society, and without the first clue what to do with her life. All respectable paths are closed to her, but she still wants to make a name for herself instead of feeling invisible in her own skin. And as it turns out, being seen in nothing but her skin might be the solution she’s been looking for. Jonathan Foster is the illegitimate son of a sugar plantation owner, and though running his father’s business in London has made him wealthy, his true calling is as a pastry chef and confectioner. When he meets Sophie, he sees her as the perfect canvas for his art and the perfect companion for his life. Ambition has never tasted so good. But when a familiar villain is discovered to be selling secrets to French pirates, Sophie and Jonathan must stretch their delicious new alliance to do more than just entertain the members of the ton who once turned their backs on Sophie, they must catch the spies and see them brought to justice. All books are light-hearted, fun, SUPER steamy, Regency romps—quick reads, not to be taken too seriously. PLEASE BE ADVISED – Steam Level: Five-Alarm Fire with a generous helping of F-bombs. Don’t say you weren’t warned. When the Wallflowers were Wicked: THE ACCIDENTAL MISTRESS THE INCORRIGIBLE COURTESAN THE DELECTABLE TART THE BLUSHING HARLOT THE CHEEKY MINX THE CLEVER STRUMPET

"Love--sentimental drivel for insipid, weak, feckless fools. A wounded hero. Since an explosion ravaged Captain Morgan Le Draco's face and cost him his commission in the Royal Dragoons, he's fortified himself behind an impenetrable rampart of cynicism and distrust. Now destitute and shunned by the very society that once lauded his heroics, he's put aside all thoughts of marrying and having a family. Until he risks his life to save a drowning woman. At once, Morgan knows Shona's the balm for his tortured soul, but as a wealthy, titled noblewoman, she's too far above his humble station and can never be his. Love--a treasured gift reserved for those beautiful of form and face. An intrepid wallflower. Scorned and ridiculed most of her adult life, Shona, Lady Atterberry believes she's utterly undesirable and is reconciled to spinsterhood. She hides her spirited temperament beneath a veneer of gauche shyness, until a strapping, scarred stranger saves her life, and she can't deny her immediate, powerful, and sensual attraction to him. Despite how ill-suited they are and innuendos that Captain Le Draco is a fortune-hunter, she cannot escape her growing fascination. Two damaged souls searching for love. Others are determined to keep them apart, and Shona is goaded into placing a wicked wager. One that sets her upon a ruinous path and alienates the only man who might have ever loved her. Is true love enough to put their pasts behind them, to learn to trust, and heal their wounded hearts?"--Page [4] of cover.

Few institutions seem more opposed than African American literature and J. Edgar Hoover's white-bread Federal Bureau of Investigation. But behind the scenes the FBI's hostility to black protest was energized by fear of and respect for black writing. Drawing on nearly 14,000 pages of newly released FBI files, F.B. Eyes exposes the Bureau’s intimate policing of five decades of African American poems, plays, essays, and novels. Starting in 1919, year one of Harlem’s renaissance and Hoover’s career at the Bureau, secretive FBI "ghostreaders" monitored the latest developments in African American letters. By the time of Hoover’s death in 1972, these ghostreaders knew enough to simulate a sinister black literature of their own. The official aim behind the Bureau’s close reading was to anticipate political unrest. Yet, as William J. Maxwell reveals, FBI surveillance came to influence the creation and public reception of African American literature in the heart of the twentieth century. Taking his title from Richard Wright’s poem "The FB Eye Blues," Maxwell details how the FBI threatened the international travels of African American writers and prepared to jail dozens of them in times of national emergency. All the same, he shows that the Bureau’s paranoid style could prompt insightful criticism from Hoover’s ghostreaders and creative replies from their literary targets. For authors such as Claude McKay, James Baldwin, and Sonia Sanchez, the suspicion that government spy-critics tracked their every word inspired rewarding stylistic experiments as well as disabling self-censorship. Illuminating both the serious harms of state surveillance and the ways in which imaginative writing can withstand and exploit it, F.B. Eyes is a groundbreaking account of a long-hidden dimension of African American literature.
