The Count of Monte Cristo is one of the great adventure novels of all time. But the author, Alexandre Dumas, also adapted his novel into four riveting plays. Part Three: The Rise of Monte Cristo is set two decades after Edmond Dantès has been unjustly imprisoned in the Château d'If. Edmond has made himself into the Count of Monte Cristo, and he now sets out to gain his revenge upon the three men who shangaied him into 14 years of prison. First on the list is Fernand Mondego, whose treacheries have brought him a fortune, a title (the Count of Morcerf), and a wife: Edmond's fiancée, Mercédès, who's long believed him dead. Monte Cristo uses his great wealth to draw a net around Fernand, gradually exposing his lies to the world. Finally, the two men must confront each other--knowing that only one of them will leave the room alive! Great action drama!

“TOMORROW” My Sister Said, Tomorrow Never Came. (Metis language translated into English) “That’s the train you’ll ride on,” Papa said. Mama muffled sounds as she pulled me close to her, then my two sisters. “My little girls, I’m going to miss you so much!” I was very confused. I wanted to cry. I didn’t like seeing my Mama cry. Why aren’t Mama and Papa coming with us I thought as we were guided onto the train? I tried looking out the window wanting to see Mama and Papa once more and was told to sit. As the train blew its loud whistle, we slowly began to move. Once more I jumped up and pressed my face to the window. “Mama, Papa,” I cried until their faces faded in the distance. I was five years old. I didn’t understand where I was going. Several long hours came to pass as an overwhelming sadness continued to engulf me. I could not control my tears. I wanted to go home! I wanted my Mama! I wanted my Papa! The more my sisters, Helene and Lucy, tried to console me, the harder I cried. “Shhh,” Helene whispered. As I closed my heavy eyes and laid my head on her lap, I heard her softly say, “Tomorrow...tomorrow we’ll go home.” My sisters were big girls. They were much older than I. They would know when I would get to see my Mama and Papa and my Brother Tommy again. After all, Helene was eight years old and Lucy was seven. They would take care of me. Papa told them to watch over me. My world as I knew it no longer existed. We were shipped off to a government boarding school. It was 1927. “Indians” must be civilized! The Indians must be divorced from his primitive ways! We must recreate him! Make a new personality! Teach them the white man’s ways! Helene? Lucy? Where are you? As time passed I began to forget my Mama and Papa and all that was before. Did the government succeeded in recreating me. I was now eight years old. We were told we would get to go home for the summer. I wanted to stay at school. I would miss my friends. Again, another unknown world was thrown at me. A sadness engulfed me again. A sadness I knew I felt before. What did Mama and Papa look like? Where did we live? I tried to picture the memories of when I left home seem to be forgotten. Three long years passed since my sister Helene said these words, “Tomorrow my sister”.

This third volume of The Journal Of Claude Fredericks is his journal for the year 1943, a Wanderjahr that begins with a spring in Cambridge, where Volume Two ended, but with Fredericks, having left studies at Harvard, living now in a room at Maud Bemiss house on Nutting Road near the Cowley Fathers, seeing various friends from earlier, Brie Taylor, John Simon, Anthony Clark, Paul Doguereau, the George Sartons, and making new friends as well. The summer is spent in a cabin on the shore near Belfast Maine, writing and studying still and coming to know the family that lives on the hill. In September, after spending ten days with Paul Doguereau and Fanny Mason in Walpole New Hampshire on the beautiful Mason estate overlooking the Connecticut and a month in New York living in an apartment on University Place and seeing his friend May Sarton and coming to know Muriel Rukeyser and Julian Beck, he heads with his friend William Quinn to Iowa to live with several friends of theirs who also have left Harvard, in particular Michael Millen and Paul Rail, all of them proclaiming in different ways, as Quinn and Fredericks do in theirs, their objections to Americas part in the war that had begun in December 1941. After two weeks Fredericks leaves to stay with a friend in Chicago, Martha Johnson, and to settle in and write about the troubling events of the previous days and then go on to Missouri, to pay filial pieties to members of his family there and after that go south with his mother to Mexico City for a week and then with her to Acapulco for ten days at Christmas, a spot at that time still undiscovered and with only two small hotels. Finally at the years end he heads back east to New York, where he has plans to settle down and live forever, in the city he had always loved the most of any he knew.

Some say that our fate is determined before we are ever born. Jacqui has felt the impact of her fate her entire life. Branded as the killer of her twin—a little girl they named Jane—she has been a pariah in her own family and community since birth. As the result of a freak accident in the womb, Jane never drew a single breath. Her unborn twin’s foot crushed her cord, depriving her tiny brain of oxygen. No reasonable person would assign intent or blame to the surviving baby—but that didn’t stop Jacqui’s parents from blaming her for her sister’s demise. Jacqui has tried to come to a place of peace and understanding her entire life, but she is now treated as a burden by her family. Alone, sad, and confused, she tells her story through a series of poignant letters to her sister in heaven. Having started writing to Jane when she was about seven, she is desperate to connect with her lost other half in any way she can. In her quest for self-acceptance, understanding, and forgiveness, Jacqui reaches out to the only other one who could possibly know what really happened on that fateful day: her lost twin.

These are the heart wrenching stories of adventure, danger, and the street singing ministry of Glenn Adkins and his dramatic efforts, driven by Christ's love, in reaching out to lost humanity. While pastoring a church in Topanga, he and his family worked with, and sometimes housed at the church, some of the most spiritually and mentally destitute members of our society. He began witnessing and singing in nightclubs and bars, reaching out to the stars of Hollywood, and the street people, teaching many Christians how to do hands-on street ministry. Rev. Glenn Adkins has been married forty-seven years to Frances (Frankie) Adkins. They have four daughters and one son, all grown now. He did street ministry in Haight-Ashbury and Berkeley in 1968, started and ran a Christian Coffee House in Oxnard, CA, and pastored in Topanga Canyon, CA from 1972 to 1986. While there he ministered to many actors and rock singers, as well as to those with broken dreams and devastated lives. During that period he also ministered in Hollywood, and still does. He was Chaplain and Soloist for several years for the Beverly Hills Full Gospel Business Mens Chapter Meetings. Street ministry has taken him to many of the big cities of America, including New York City, Washington, DC, Las Vegas, NV, the Island of Oahu, Hawaii, and to the infamous La Mesa prison in Tijuana, MX. While pastoring a church in Fawnskin, CA, he was also the Chaplain for two years at The Bear Valley Hospital, and six years for the San Bernardino County Sheriffs Dept. He wears many hats, including being a gospel and inspirational singer in churches and on the streets. His street singing ministry is called "The Lord's Trumpet." He's presently an Elder and Home Missionary at Believer's Chapel in Big Bear Lake, CA.
