The Purifying Power of Living by Faith In-- Future Grace

The Purifying Power of Living by Faith In-- Future Grace

In Future Grace, author John Piper helps readers discover the key to overcoming sin and living a life that honors God. Many men and women attempt to walk upright out of gratitude for what Christ did in the past, but Piper encourages believers to look ahead to the grace God provides for us on a day-by-day, moment-by-moment basis--putting faith into action by laying hold of God's promises for the challenges we face. Sever the Root of Sin No one sins out of duty. We sin because we "want "to. Sin promises happiness, and we buy the lie. So how can the root of sin be severed in our lives? The "penalty" of sin must be paid by the righteous blood of Christ. And the "power" of sin must be broken by banking on the promises of Christ. John Piper's meditations are rooted in rock-solid biblical reflection. Chapter by chapter--one for each day of the month--he reveals how, by cherishing the promises of God, you can break the power of anxiety, despondency, covetousness, lust, bitterness, impatience, pride, misplaced shame, and more. Grace

A Devotion

Grace

Grace is the free and unmerited favor of God, shown in the salvation of sinners and the gift of blessings. It is also the condition of being favored by someone. We all have an idea of what "grace" means in terms of its definition. But do we really understand what grace means in regards to our daily life? This thirty-one-day devotional will take you through some of the most common New Testament verses regarding "grace" and help you understand what it means in your daily life and for your future. God's grace is not just unmerited favor purchased for us by Jesus Christ. It is the power by which we are saved. It is the support for daily obedience. And it is the hope of eternal glory.

God's Lavish Grace

This wonderful survey of the impact and outworking of God's grace in the life of the believer will revitalise the most threadbare faith. In his early years as a Christian, Terry Virgo experienced ''zealous but rather condemnation-driven Christianity''. Then, one day, he explains, ''I began to grasp the wonder of God's glorious grace. I gave myself to fresh study, and then began to preach God's grace with new freedom, joy and certainty, having personally experienced the complete transformation of my own Christian life.

Battling Unbelief

Defeating Sin with Superior Pleasure

Battling Unbelief

Pastor John Piper shows how to sever the clinging roots of sin that ensnare us, including anxiety, pride, shame, impatience, covetousness, bitterness, despondency, and lust in Battling Unbelief. When faith flickers, stoke the fire. No one sins out of duty. We sin because it offers some promise of happiness. That promise enslaves us, until we believe that God is more desirable than life itself (Psalm 63:3). Only the power of God’s superior promises in the gospel can emancipate our hearts from servitude to the shallow promises and fleeting pleasures of sin. Delighting in the bounty of God’s glorious gospel promises will free us for a less sin-encumbered life, to the glory of Christ. Rooted in solid biblical reflection, this book aims to help guide you through the battles to the joys of victory by the power of the gospel and its superior pleasure.

Observation of the System Earth from Space - CHAMP, GRACE, GOCE and future missions

GEOTECHNOLOGIEN Science Report

Observation of the System Earth from Space - CHAMP, GRACE, GOCE and future missions

Significant advances in the scientific use of space based data were achieved in three joint interdisciplinary projects based on data of the satellite missions CHAMP, GRACE and GOCE within the R&D program GEOTECHNOLOGIEN. It was possible to explore and monitor changes related to the Earth’s surface, the boundary layer between atmosphere and solid earth, and the oceans and ice shields. This boundary layer is our habitat and therefore is in the focus of our interests. The Earth’s surface is subject to anthropogenetic changes, to changes driven by the Sun, Moon and planets, and by changes caused by processes in the Earth system. The state parameters and their changes are best monitored from space. The theme “Observation of the System Earth from Space” offers comprehensive insights into a broad range of research topics relevant to society including geodesy, oceanography, atmospheric science (from meteorology to climatology), hydrology and glaciology.

Grace Kelly of Monaco

The Inspiring Story of How An American Film Star Became a Princess

Grace Kelly of Monaco

She has been called America’s princess – and with good reason. Long before she married a prince, Grace Kelly had the looks and bearing of royalty. Born and raised in Philadelphia, the daughter of an Irish Catholic father and a German immigrant mother, Grace’s blend of blonde-haired, blue-eyed beauty and poise was dubbed a “snow-covered volcano” by director Alfred Hitchcock. But like most icons, there is more to Grace than what you see in film. While, on the surface, she appeared to have lived a real-life fairy tale filled with handsome men, beautiful clothes and an adoring public, in reality, her life seems to have been more of an often sad reflection of the times in which she lived. It was a time of movie megastars, of hushed-up love affairs, of prejudice and gossip, and of images not always being what they appeared to be. Long before the world admired Kate Middleton’s sophisticated sense of style, and long before the world fell in love with young Lady Diana’s shy smile, there was a breathtakingly beautiful princess from Philadelphia. Her name was Grace Kelly, and this is her story.

The Gospel and the Mind

Recovering and Shaping the Intellectual Life

The Gospel and the Mind

History demonstrates that wherever the cross is planted, the academy follows. But history alone cannot demonstrate why this is—and must be—the case. Green engages theology and philosophy to prove that the Christian vision of God, mankind, and the world provides the necessary precondition for and enduring foundation of meaningful intellectual life. The Gospel and the Mind, deeply rooted in Augustinian and Reformed thought, shows that core principles of the West’s Christian inheritance—such as creation and the importance of history, the centrality of a telos to all things, and the logos and the value of words—form the matrix of any promising and sustainable intellectual life. More than a lament of the state of the evangelical mind or even an argument for the primacy of a Christian worldview, The Gospel and the Mind is a paradigm-shifting declaration that the life of the mind starts at the cross.
