Love at first sight? Not hardly. When Darcy Fitzwilliam first meets Elizabeth Austin, the sparks fly -- and not in a good way. Sent to the small town of Longborn, Texas, on business, Darcy wants nothing to do with the local yokels until Elizabeth steps in and helps her with a prickly situation. It's a comedy of errors in this alternative take on a beloved classic. One that might just have Jane Austen rolling over in her grave.

"A masterpiece that reaches the heart."— Beverley Wong, author of Pride & Prejudice Prudence The bestselling Pemberley Chronicles series continues the saga of the Darcys and Bingleys from Jane Austen's Pride and Prejudice and introduces imaginative new characters. Anne-Marie Bradshaw is the granddaughter of Charles and Jane Bingley. Her father now owns Longbourn, the Bennet's estate in Hertfordshire. A young widow after a loveless marriage, Anne-Marie and her stepmother Anna, together with Charlotte Collins, widow of the unctuous Mr. Collins, are the Ladies of Longbourn. These smart, independent women challenge the conventional roles of women in the Victorian era, while they search for ways to build their own lasting legacies in an ever-changing world. The ladies find strength, companionship, and friendship together as they work to build a children's hospital, deal with a deadly outbreak of influenza, and help a gentle lady flee a violent and destructive marriage. Jane Austen's original characters - Darcy, Elizabeth, Bingley, and Jane - provide a framework of solid values and commentary to anchor a dramatic story full of wit and compassion. "Interesting stories, enduring themes, gentle humour, and lively dialogue."— Book News

He was a man of two tribes and the Comanche blood that flowed in his veins was that of one of the most savage raiders of the south-west. But a white man had raised him and there was as much hate as duty mixed in with those years. They called him Blaine, a name known far and wide across Texas: a man who said little and who was willing to be judged by his actions. He worked hard and fought hard, essentially a loner with a void in his heart that could never be filled. Unless he killed the man who had raised him - a man to whom he owed everything. And Blaine always paid his debts.

As the magazine of the Texas Exes, The Alcalde has united alumni and friends of The University of Texas at Austin for nearly 100 years. The Alcalde serves as an intellectual crossroads where UT's luminaries - artists, engineers, executives, musicians, attorneys, journalists, lawmakers, and professors among them - meet bimonthly to exchange ideas. Its pages also offer a place for Texas Exes to swap stories and share memories of Austin and their alma mater. The magazine's unique name is Spanish for "mayor" or "chief magistrate"; the nickname of the governor who signed UT into existence was "The Old Alcalde."

Book Review Reviewed by Lit Amri for Readers’ Favorite “I had no idea just how radically my life was about to be altered that day, the day I met Dr. Wilson J. Wells, a PhD in science and higher mathematics. He was also an inventor. It was June 12, 1980. It all started that day. It was a day I would never forget, as it was the same month I had started the agency four years ago. Maybe this also was an omen.” Set in Chicago, Jake Kincannon, PI: Across the Sea of Time by Jw Grodt, features Jake Kincannon, a former homicide detective who opens his own PI business specializing in the paranormal. Together with his assistant and lover Julie Carson, they try to keep the agency afloat by chasing big cases such as the Werewolf Killer. When Dr. Wilson J. Wells offers Jake a lucrative pay packet, he gladly accepts. The job? He needs to travel back in time, May 7, 1937, using Wells’ time machine Teleporter, and stop the murder of his wife Sheila. I got hooked on the storyline pretty quickly and wanted to know how it all ends. Combining sci-fi elements of time travel makes the story much more exciting and intriguing. Jake’s first time travel and plan to save Sheila seems successful, yet there are unpredictable twists that await him. A change in the past, no matter how small, can influence everything else either positively or negatively. Jake Kincannon, PI: Across the Sea of Time shows Jw Grodt’s skill in developing intricate details that draw you into the characters and the plot. Readers who enjoy vivid scenes would find story cinematic as a whole.
