Measure Integral Derivative

Author : Sergei Ovchinnikov
ISBN : 9781461471967
Genre : Mathematics
File Size : 88. 17 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

This classroom-tested text is intended for a one-semester course in Lebesgue’s theory. With over 180 exercises, the text takes an elementary approach, making it easily accessible to both upper-undergraduate- and lower-graduate-level students. The three main topics presented are measure, integration, and differentiation, and the only prerequisite is a course in elementary real analysis. In order to keep the book self-contained, an introductory chapter is included with the intent to fill the gap between what the student may have learned before and what is required to fully understand the consequent text. Proofs of difficult results, such as the differentiability property of functions of bounded variations, are dissected into small steps in order to be accessible to students. With the exception of a few simple statements, all results are proven in the text. The presentation is elementary, where σ-algebras are not used in the text on measure theory and Dini’s derivatives are not used in the chapter on differentiation. However, all the main results of Lebesgue’s theory are found in the book. http://online.sfsu.edu/sergei/MID.htm

Integral Measure And Derivative

Starting with the useful concept of an elementary integral defined (axiomatically) on a family of elementary functions, this treatment examines the general theory of the integral, Lebesque integral in n space, the Riemann-Stieltjes integral, and more. "The exposition is fresh and sophisticated, and will engage the interest of accomplished mathematicians." — Sci-Tech Book News. 1966 edition.

Real Analysis Measures Integrals And Applications

Author : Boris Makarov
ISBN : 9781447151227
Genre : Mathematics
File Size : 33. 84 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

Real Analysis: Measures, Integrals and Applications is devoted to the basics of integration theory and its related topics. The main emphasis is made on the properties of the Lebesgue integral and various applications both classical and those rarely covered in literature. This book provides a detailed introduction to Lebesgue measure and integration as well as the classical results concerning integrals of multivariable functions. It examines the concept of the Hausdorff measure, the properties of the area on smooth and Lipschitz surfaces, the divergence formula, and Laplace's method for finding the asymptotic behavior of integrals. The general theory is then applied to harmonic analysis, geometry, and topology. Preliminaries are provided on probability theory, including the study of the Rademacher functions as a sequence of independent random variables. The book contains more than 600 examples and exercises. The reader who has mastered the first third of the book will be able to study other areas of mathematics that use integration, such as probability theory, statistics, functional analysis, partial probability theory, statistics, functional analysis, partial differential equations and others. Real Analysis: Measures, Integrals and Applications is intended for advanced undergraduate and graduate students in mathematics and physics. It assumes that the reader is familiar with basic linear algebra and differential calculus of functions of several variables.

Aimed at advanced undergraduate and graduate students, this book is suitable for both introductory and more advanced courses in functional analysis. Including over 1500 exercises of varying difficulty and various motivational and historical remarks, the book can be used for self-study and alongside lecture courses.

Analysis

Author : Jean-Paul Penot
ISBN : 9783319324111
Genre : Mathematics
File Size : 86. 23 MB
Format : PDF, Mobi

This textbook covers the main results and methods of real analysis in a single volume. Taking a progressive approach to equations and transformations, this book starts with the very foundations of real analysis (set theory, order, convergence, and measure theory) before presenting powerful results that can be applied to concrete problems. In addition to classical results of functional analysis, differential calculus and integration, Analysis discusses topics such as convex analysis, dissipative operators and semigroups which are often absent from classical treatises. Acknowledging that analysis has significantly contributed to the understanding and development of the present world, the book further elaborates on techniques which pervade modern civilization, including wavelets in information theory, the Radon transform in medical imaging and partial differential equations in various mechanical and physical phenomena. Advanced undergraduate and graduate students, engineers as well as practitioners wishing to familiarise themselves with concepts and applications of analysis will find this book useful. With its content split into several topics of interest, the book’s style and layout make it suitable for use in several courses, while its self-contained character makes it appropriate for self-study.

"This book is very well organized and clearly written and contains an adequate supply of exercises. If one is comfortable with the choice of topics in the book, it would be a good candidate for a text in a graduate real analysis course." -- MATHEMATICAL REVIEWS

Functional Analysis

Author : Sergei Ovchinnikov
ISBN : 9783319915128
Genre : Mathematics
File Size : 46. 52 MB
Format : PDF

This concise text provides a gentle introduction to functional analysis. Chapters cover essential topics such as special spaces, normed spaces, linear functionals, and Hilbert spaces. Numerous examples and counterexamples aid in the understanding of key concepts, while exercises at the end of each chapter provide ample opportunities for practice with the material. Proofs of theorems such as the Uniform Bounded Theory, the Open Mapping Theorem, and the Closed Graph Theorem are worked through step-by-step, providing an accessible avenue to understanding these important results. The prerequisites for this book are linear algebra and elementary real analysis, with two introductory chapters providing an overview of material necessary for the subsequent text. Functional Analysis offers an elementary approach ideal for the upper-undergraduate or beginning graduate student. Primarily intended for a one-semester introductory course, this text is also a perfect resource for independent study or as the basis for a reading course.
