Scripture is absolute when it comes to forgiveness. IF we forgive, THEN we are forgiven. It’s that simple but no one said it was easy! Nonetheless, forgiveness can be likened to a spiritual key that unlocks spiritual doors and opportunities! It is also true to say, unless you release others you won’t be released. “Do not judge, and you will not be judged. Do not condemn, and you will not be condemned. Forgive, and you will be forgiven” (Luke 6:37 NIV). When we forgive, a RELEASE takes place that can catapult us into our future and our destiny. But vice versa is also true. All of us remain in bondage when we refuse to forgive. We self injure and self-destruct when we choose not to forgive.

Do you know the reason for your unhappiness? When attitudes toward others are based on past wounds and deception, the result cannot be good fruit. People in a state of distortion do not make wise decisions. Pride and a spirit of selfishness can have enormous consequences, actually resulting in physical illness and depression. Joy in your heart, a smile on your lips, and an attitude of forgiveness toward yourself and your offenders are vital elements in healing. The ideas of retaliation and revenge come from the Evil One who takes pleasure in destroying relationships. If Satan succeeds in stealing your joy and your peace, you may be on the road to a complete meltdown. We must resist the devil. He is the source of disorder and confusion. Condemnation is never the answer. Forgiveness is an indispensable ingredient for spiritual and emotional deliverance and is a spiritual act we can only manage by faith. Respect, care, and empathy offer hope of permanent healing.

Helena Petrovna Blavatsky (1831-91), writer, traveller and spiritualist, is well known for her role in nineteenth-century theosophy. Born in the Ukraine, Blavatsky travelled extensively and claimed to have spent seven years studying esoteric mysteries in Tibet. From 1863 she began working as a medium and later counted W. B. Yeats among her followers. In 1875 she founded the Theosophical Society with Henry Steel Olcott. Influenced by Eastern philosophy and the Templars, Freemasons and Rosicrucians, the Society aimed to unravel the occult mysteries of nature. First published in 1877, this book outlines theosophy's precepts. The book is a mishmash of Hermetic philosophy, Christian history and Asian theology, and was allegedly dictated astrally from authorities including Plato, Solomon and Roger Bacon. Volume 2 questions the 'infallibility of religion'. Blavatsky attacks the Church's authority on spirituality and outlines its historic crimes. The book also explores the influence of Eastern philosophy on Christianity.
